That America will degenerate into a police state with the loss of the 2nd Amendment? It seems that we are on a downward spiral with rampant idiocy in our elected leaders. I mean come on "I didn't read the stimulus bill."????? By my question I am asking that are we headed that way? I know as long as we have guns they can't do to much collectively but how many really stand up people are out there now? If the SWAT team pulls up and they have a .50 cal and an apc whats a boy to do? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We do not have to head that way if EVERY gun owner would stand up and say this is not right and un-Constitutional. Having every gun owner do that is a pipe dream, but if just 1/2 or 1/3 did that, the message would be loud and clear. Write you congress critter and tell (remind) them they work for YOU and if they agree with something un-Constitutional you will not vote for them. Have all of your shooting buddies, hunting buddies, gun owning friends, relatives etc do the same. To keep our freedoms, it has to begin with people like you and me. We are the ones who have our best interests at heart. If you don't think this will work, remember when DoD was going to scrap the once fired military brass and people complained very loud. That decision was reversed. Believe it or not, WE can make a difference. Wrok hard (it's an up hill battle), be persistant and have hope. Good changes can happen on the side of liberty and freedom. |

The 2nd will be a minor factor when the rest of the financial sector fails and the U.S. defaults on its loans and loses its AAA credit rating later this year perhaps. There are not enough LEOs to worry about them coming to your house. They will most likely do what they did in LA and during Katrina, go home and protect their own. The military will fraction along with all law enforcement and people will uphold their oaths to the consitution and some will not. Thats when the shumer hits.

That is incorrect. Even if the Constitution is shredded, the Right to bear arms still exists. It is a Human Right. Quote:
Third, as long as the ballot and soap boxes are still used the bullet box is only going to set on a shelf so use the first two. The latter is last resort only. Do you REALLY think the founders spent 8 years in War because they WANTED to? No. They had no choice given the choices at the time. Fourth, get active. If you are too lazy for the soft fight, you are too lazy for the hard fight. Sounds harsh, but I don't have time for eloquence. So let's talk straight. Quote:

It would appear to be on the track for a police state regardless of the condition of our firearms . I think Jolly is right that bearing arms is a human right and I believe that right to be recognized by the second amendment . The fact it is an amendment is a clue to me that even back then , there were people that did not want the common people to have such rights . Today , things are not greatly different . What has changed is time and technology but tyrants still prefer unarmed victims . Jack |

1. James Madison mentioned something about abolishing slavery on the basis of it being an institution that was applied by England (and after 1783, we were no longer English, but American) in one of the Federalist Papers, though I forget which one. I struggled with proper wording on this one so don't shoot me. 2. The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal and there is a prohibition of titles of nobility in the Constitution. No such thing as "common people" in the United States. 3. The Bill of Rights are Rights the People reserved to themselves and not up for discussion, debate, or compromise. The biggest problem with the anti vs. pro debate is that the pro-gunners are dragged into a debate that should not be and then fail to take the moral high ground. Most anti-gunners, or at least all the ones I know, are just flat out ignorant. 4. Alexander Hamilton even said that if we adopted a codified Bill of Rights, then they are up for debate. That is why James Madison worded them precisely in the way he did. I forget the proper literary perspective (English 101 was 15 years ago). It is a command from the People that arms will not be taken and not as if We are asking permission to have them. jollynator | |

Sorry , when I used the term common people I was not refering to titles of nobility . I am refering to people that are of the opinion they are the best humanity has to offer , others are somewhat lesser creatures . Those who believe you or I should not have weapons exist today as they did then . Since it was ammended to the document instead of being part of it it leads one to the possiblity that it was assumed all knew to recognize the rights . Or , someone read it and looked at it like a tyrant would and had them added . But then perhaps I am mistaken ...... my apologies to all . Jack |

who says that we have to wait for them to come to us, hmmm? Once we hear that they are getting out of hand, anywhere, it will be time to make the suppressor, test it on the gun and take the fight to THEIR homes, HQ, etc. Since we outnumber them by 70 to one, it won't take long to straigten out who is what.
