Does any one have any info on the chamber size of a Stevens Model 315? (or where I could find info on it) I know that it was made somewhere between 1920 amd 1936. it is in exceptional shape except for a small place on the stock. The reason I am concerned is I think it was made before chambers in shotguns were standardized.

I have one in 12 gauge, and it had a short chamber: 2 5/8". You can check with an easy-to-make chamber length gauge. Take a fired 20 ga. hull and cut about an inch off. Insert it into a fired 12 ga. shell so the 20 ga. rim is at the end of shell. If you can insert the "gauge" all the way into the chamber, you have a 2 3/4" chamber. If not, you should consider having the forcing cone or chamber lengthened.
Here's a link to ShotgunWorld for some background info.
