| Video thermal hog hunt. 22 pigs down
I got invited out to Centerville, Tx to help eradicate some hogs. Great guys who have access to lots of property in the area. We recovered 22 hogs that night, including a 275 lb rhino of a boar. Good times. Unfortunately I didnt get video of a lot of the shooting, but here's a couple volleys that I did manage to get video of. 12.5" 6.8SPCII from Blackstone Arms. Sig SRD762TI-QD suppressor from Silencer Shop. Trijicon Reap-IR thermal weapon sight from Cliff at ThirdCoastThermal. Recorded with a mini DVR from ultimate night vision. https://youtu.be/VKyM4lM1N6A ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's been my experience that domestic uncastrated boars are almost inedible, Are wild boars different. ? |

bearcat6, Boar meat, marinated in milk or brined overnight, make decent sausage filling. = NOT good BBQ however. My favorite feral pork is young ones that dress out about 50#. = Straight onto the pit over green hickory, at about 225 degrees, until fork-tender. yours, sw |

Wild hogs taste great, both male and female. The younger smaller ones are probably a little more tender. Every so often you will kill a boar that has a terrible smell. I wouldn't suggest eating those, but typically they're fine. Big boars might taste a little gamey, but if you soak the meat in ice with salt, or some kind of acidic juice, it will take the gamey taste out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |

To All, I got an email about noon today from my "XB-friend Donna". She & Carlos (her husband) took 32 feral pigs with their XBs yesterday & spent ALL night dressing them out for the freezer. = Donna said most dressed-out between 50-75 pounds each. (I suspect that their freezers are now FULL & the 2 of them will be passing along their next "take" to Hunters for the Hungry. - They gave away over 1,000 pounds of dressed pork in 2017, plus all the feral pork & venison that they gave to family & friends.) Btw, Donna said, "We're beat & headed to bed." - That's the pure truth, I suspect. NOTE: Carlos & Donna have a standing contract with several ranchers to REMOVE feral hogs from their properties. (They get paid 40 bucks for each pig-tail.) Until I met Danna/Carlos, I thought that I was a person who ate, drank & slept hunting, 24/7. (I sometimes wonder when they sleep, as he's a heavy equipment operator, she's an RN & both work fulltime.) yours, sw |
