US "Accidental Discharge" nearly killed Iran's President at the UN?

If this report is to be believed, it almost happened in 2006, when Iran's President visited the UN:

New Book Says US Almost Accidentally Assassinated Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

"The incident happened as President Ahmadinejad was leaving the InterContinental Hotel in New York. A Secret Service agent readjusting a shotgun mounted on a vehicle in former President George W. Bush’s motorcade accidentally discharged the gun, narrowly missing Ahmadinejad."

OOPS!

That AD/ND could have had some repercussions....

W O W ! !,

Imagine the chit-storm that would have caused. And I gotta say, Ahmadinejad was a much better sport about the whole thing that I would have been. I think I would have taken some offense to the whole thing.

An opportunity ..... missed. DAG NAB IT!

Naw, seriously. I don't like that Iranian tinpot terrorist tyrant but offing him would not really solve anything ... just complicate things.
I mean, UNBELIEVABLY complicate ... things.
Geeeesh.
