.44 Magnum lever action or one of those cute little slide action Remington rifles with the AR magazine. Assuming Remington learned how to build guns again.

I'd call whoever wouldn't let me have one a bigot, and ask them why they're racist, and why do they hate black rifles?

If we were prohibited from shooting/owning an AR, it is likely we would be prohibited from shooting/owning anything similar.

Me? I'd spend some trigger time with my .308/7.62x51 bolts with possible plans of using them to get me a battlefield pickup AR.

Mini-14 if I wanted a 5.56 or SOCOM-16 for 7.62.

I'm assuming "pistol grip" is one of main AR definers.

Oh, wait, I just noticed who the OP was.

He's waiting for someone to say "M1 carbine."

Okay, I'll do it. "M1 carbine." And in fact I did buy one back in 1972, when ARs were rare, exotic, and expensive.

I was simply trying to stir up rational conversation about what we, as the shooting segment of society would do in the event that another "Body Odor" brand of politician is elected this autumn.

Some answers were well considered, while others seem a bit jejune.

You know who you are.

I'm having a whiskey in honor of the fact that I didn't have to google "jejune".

I read a story once about a troop that successfully engaged a whole bunch of bad guys with a bolt gun...

But I misremember the details.

I'll drink a whiskey out of jealousy that you knew what jejune met.

Well, that' the best excuse I could come up with this early.
