My neighbor wants a red dot for his AK, but doesn't want to lay out the coin for an Aimpoint or an ACOG. Could anyone offer any more wallet friendly options for an optic; primary usage would be hunting \ plinking. One that would mount low enough on an Ultimak scout rail to enable co witnessing the irons would be a plus. |

Walmart sells a Chinese-made red dot for $25 or $30--I've seen exactly the same sight under several different names. I think mine might be marked BSA but they're all the same. Mine's worked quite well for several years on my .22 AR. I don't know why it wouldn't work well on an AK for hunting/plinking. I doubt it'll co-witness with AK metallic sights, though. But for the price, you don't have much to lose. |

Thanks, I'm running a ML2 on mine and I can just co witness the irons with a low mount. He doesn't want to put a lot of money in a utility gun until he knows if he's going to take to it or not. I expect he will. |
