How to install AK compliant gas piston????

Gave this a half hearted try after noticing that the pin head seemed oval, possibly indicating the hole is tapered and the pin peened over into it, making for difficult removal. Or am I missing something here???

Surely there are easier compliant parts???????? I have the trigger hammer set up.....does anyone make the odd nut for the grip screw, grip & screw, trigger/hammer pins???

Any one here have some of this stuff to sell??? PJHeck

Here's a tutorial on how to replace the gas piston:

For a new pin, a common nail works well, and its easy to rivet the ends of it.
Make sure to countersink the holes slightly to give the pin rivet room to expand, or when you grind the excess off, there won';t be enough rivet to hold.

Make sure to screw the piston in all the way, then BACK IT OFF about 1/2 turn. When riveted, the piston SHOULD have a slight amount of wobble.

Its not hard to meet the compliance issues. New American made stock and hand guards, trigger units, magazines or magazine parts, American grips etc.

Thanx for the tutorial link and your comment......... I suspected the tapered end hole. I would have just grabbed it by the heels and made it work 20 years ago......now I ask a few questions first. Took me 70 years to learn to do that..... PJH
