Oh man!
I knew about E. German but wasn't aware that N Korea or the Arabs were building them too.
Which other countries built SKS's?

The N. Korean version is supposedly a few steps above the Chinese SKS rifle in fit and finish. There are several books out on the SKS, and they disagree on who built them, or who took some and reconfigured them. Nobody mentioned ever having seen an Albanian, yet here they are. Look for Syrian, Iraqui, N. Vietnamese, and possibly a few Egyptian variants, too.

Not that I've ever heard of, sir. There is a company advertising in Shotgun News that does trigger work. You could probably have that done, and replace the barrel, put better sights on, synthetic stock, and build your own, though.

Just think, a NM version would probably shoot 1 1/2-2 MOA. Wow!

imop, the best sks is a Russian sks. I have 2, one complete with bayo, matching numbers and all. I bought another to "sporterize," I got each for $200.

The yugo ones aren't bad, but all the extra crap on the muzzle wasn't for me. As I understand it they are more stoutly constructed than most other SKSs.

Not to start anything, but I think the SKS is one of the best made semi auto rifles period. I have never had a problem of any kind with either an SKS or an M1A. Neither will quit.

prices for SKSs are getting ridiculous. when I was shitting mustard they were ~$50 or less. Now thats one hell of a bargain.
