PTR91/ HK91 etc ammo?

For those of you with PTR91's and the real HK91's...

What ammo do you shoot out of yours? Brand name? What country of origin?

I am saving for a PTR91 or a real Hk91 depending on how saving the money goes...

I figure I might as well start picking up ammo.

Uhh, what do HK 91s and clones have to do with FALs? Since FALs are gas operated, and HK/PTR/CETME are delayed blowback, I would imagine the ammo requirements could be somewhat different....

Ooopps!

I am new to the semi-auto .308

I meant HK PTR ammo...

I just want to make sure I have all of this straight and I know what I am talking about so I don't look like a moron when I go to order a PTR or L1A1. It looks like I need to spend some time reading in this forum.

If going with the CETME/HK design, you'll need to use military ammo. Commerical ammo is sometimes loaded to a higher pressure, and also uses weaker brass that can be torn apart by the fluted chamber and rather violent extraction process.

I have owned a Real HK91, Cetme and the L1A1. Got rid of the first two and kept the FAL First two are a pain to clean, brass is thrown into the next county. Use CALVIN and you are really in trouble. FAL breaks down for cleaning real easy, operation is simple. In short, save yourself some trouble and go with the FAL.

Since you're in the FAL forum, I think you should get a DSA-FAL. If you want to talk about buying other guns I'm donna moob dis tread to anahda forum...
