| Remington targetmaster Model 610 .22
All I know it was made in Feb 1940 -1945 and never marketed, that is what Remington told me and that there were very few of them made. I started with that gun 43 years ago, but was looking for info. Marking ID letters and numbers are L F 31 no S/n # they didn't have to mark them till 1968 Remington told me it was a collectors item, seeing how there are so few and they really didn't sell them. but i'm going to talk to the history group remington monday. ![]() |

| Rmington just told me
That only 63 were made and they only went to collector and for test. I have seen one other posting that the person said that they also had a model 610. |

Thats quite a find. There are probably collectors out there that would kill for something like that. ![]() |

| Remington targetmaster Model 610 .22
I just received a model 610 .22 from my grand parent's estate. The date code is DF which I believe is sept. of 1937 The barrel is stamped: Remington Target Master Model 610 .22 short, long, long rifle Remington Arms Co. Inc Ilion N.Y. ....and some patent info I did not bother to write down. On the left side of the receiver it is stamped: D F (the letters are not alighned very well) the DF is followed by two crescent shapes that look like a smile. It is almost like a pair of zeros were intended to be stamped but only the bottom half of the mark took. It seems that there is not much info available about this rifle. I appreciated finding your post about the 610. It looks like this one may have been made earlier than 1940. |

Got a single shot .22 for my 8th birthday. My dad found it on some rack someplace and paid maybe $10 for it. It is a Model 610 Targetmaster. Used that little gun for years almost every day. Must have killed hundreds of woodchucks, rabbits and squirrels with it. Put thousands of rounds through it (a box of 50 cost a quarter back then). I credit it for making me an expert marksman by the time I hit Parris Island since I learned I had to make the 'only shot' count. I butchered the stock some and lost the trigger spring/safety pin that fits into the trigger and rides on the safety bottom. I was a kid and it was a 'cheap' little single shot, what did I know. Still shoots 'dead on'. Amazing only 63 of them were made. Who would have thought.

So, almost 5% of the world's Remington 610 owners have shown up on this site so far. Something tells me that Google will get the rest here sooner or later. |
