| 1K Rifles
Being a USMC Trained, USN Precision Rifleman, perhaps I have an extra 1000 Yard rifle in the locker. ![]() Having access to the 1K range at Fort Stewart probably stokes the flames? But just how many other folks feel the need to have more than a half dozen 1000 yard + rifles in the locker at any time? |

Let's see, I have four HS Precision HTRs, a Sig SSG 3000, and a Steyr SSG 69. Do they count?

A thousand yard rifle isn't much use to a guy with 350 yard eyes. If I need to engage something farther out than that I'm calling in an air strike on it... ![]() |

Can the rifle/cartridge/shooter combo be expected to score a hit more often than not on a 1000 Yard NRA/Military Target? Does the rifle/cartridge/projectile combo still generate at least 1000 pounds of kinetic energy at or beyond 1000 yards or are they regulated to punching paper? I've got a 20 inch barreled DPMS NATO [.308 Win] REPR. (which on a good day {low wind conditions} is barely a 1K rifle) 22 & 24 inch barrelled reworked Remington MILSPEC in .308 Win. 24 inch MILSPEC in 300 Win Mag. 24 inch Remington North American 300 Win Mag. My M1a's currently need refurbishing prior to taking any trips to the 1K line, but the McMillan TAC 50 can perform if the range allows. My eyes are still good enough to see into high quality glass, which is nowadays a must for this Old Guy at the 1K range. But only paper/steel need be concerned about being engaged at 1K, short of armageddon. ![]() Snake45: If your only 1000 yards away when you get into your car, it better be really fast if someone's got the TAC-50 pressed against thier shoulder. ![]() | |

Impressive bearcat6. But 100 yard groups don't make 1000 yard hits. Got a thousand yard target or two that you would consider posting? I know it's allot to ask, but it is rather significant In My Humble Opinion.

We don't have a range that long around here. I guess I'm just a lousy shot.

Thanks for the map. There is one range listed on it for 600 yards and that is two hours a way from me.
