If you want opinions about .223 Savage, go to Savage Shooters.com and ask that question. Those folks have all the skinney on Savage. What to do and how to do it. Between my Savage 110 V in .223 and my M1A in .308, both sites keep me out of trouble. My savage will do bug holes at 100 yards each and every time. Just did a barrel swap to 26" SS with a muzzle brake so I can see the bullet strikes out to 300 + yards. The take off barrel was set back (rechambered) to .221 Fireball to match my XP 100 in the same caliber. Should be a SUPER varmint rig with recoil next to nothing. Should be here Monday or Tuesday. Looking for the Big Brown Truck. Kinda like waiting for Santa to show up. Savage and M1A are both #1! |

I have a Savage tac in 30-06.One of the most accurate and consistent out of the box rifles I have ever seen. The only thing I have done to it is a Timney trigger, with the new style trigger you shouldnt even have to do that.I believe its a hard gun to beat for the money.Mine has 2,163 rounds through it now (just checked my book) . I shot it yesterday-first group out of a cold, clean bbl went .625 at 100 yds.First round cold bbl hit the 3\4 in paster I was aiming at. ![]() |

I talked to two guys this weekend who shoot them , they place 1st and 2nd quite often at local matches. They are both reloaders and have worked up loads. They have a big time outshooting custom iron. I think the new trigger is a winner. I believe I will have to try one out myself.

Have an older 110FLP in .300 Win. Mag. I adjusted the old style factory trigger down to 3#, added a Harris bipod, and some older Redfield optics (well, they weren't old when I pit them on). It will do MOA out to 400 yards. Haven't had time to play at longer ranges. I'm using Fed GM loads. :D |
