What to look for
Im Pretty new to Mil-Sur Rifles. I own several Handguns, rifles and shotguns so im not new to firearms. I was wanting to know what to look for to know if a rifles barrel has good rifling. Basically if its barrel isnt worn out.

One way is to get a Muzzle wear/throat erosion gauge. They make versions for each caliber. I have one for 30-06 that works pretty well.

Visually looking in a barrel you look for sharp rifling just in front of chamber which will indicate one of two things. Either excellent care has been taken of it or it has low rounds.
Check the Reloading Forum for a thread "Besides politicians this is out worst enemy". This will give you some insight as to barrel wear and what causes it.
Just looking at a barrel is no indicator how well a barrel will shoot.
I have seen perfect looking barrels that were terrible and very poor looking barrels shoot under an inch at 100. You never know till you shoot it.
The above article will tell you about how to check out barrels for best results for accuracy.
