Sniper techniques

Not sure which forum to post this too, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction. My son, after 4 years in the USAF wants to re-up and try to make it in the Marine Sniper School. He's looking for literature to give him a leg up on techniques, gear etc. Can anyone recommednd a good place to start?

I have no first hand experience, but my head tells me he shouldn't worry about that stuff, but would do well to brush up on his math.

Send him here. http://www.snipersparadise.com/USMC_prereq.htm
Or here. http://home.swipnet.se/longrange/want_t ... sniper.htm
They won't care what else he can do if he can't pass the physical requirements first. I doubt there are many PFC's selected either. I believe there is a TI requirement too.

Lots of good stuff in this book. Make sure to get the latest edition.

Also a lot of former snipers at this site. Asking over there might net you more answers.

Look here, you will more than likely find the older training manual but its a start!

Tell him to get in the top physical shape he can get into! Run with back packs, run your A$$ off then try to put a round on target!!

Camo and Concealment, ATTENTION TO THE SMALLEST OF DETAILS, and memory retention!

The hardest part is not the shooting!! Its stalking!!!

Have him make some ghillie suits. BDU's with burlap and jute on them!! Google Ghillie Suits!

Check this site!! >> http://stevespages.com/page7c.htm

Tell him good luck!! One shot, One Kill!!!

FM 23-10 (Army Sniper Traing)
TM 9-1005-306-10 (Wepaons System)
FMFM 1-3B (Marine Corps Manual)
MCWP 3-15.3

Those are a few that are listed!! The Seals maunal is also listed under the Navy's Section!

Please make a small donation if you decide to download!! He has a great source of info that I would hate to see get lost>

"...The hardest part is not the shooting!! Its stalking!!!..." Nope. It's not being seen while stalking.
"...Have him make some ghillie suits..." Waste of time. The suits are made as part of the course. Being excessively fit is far more important. Especially for an ex-pidgeon.
"...would hate to see get lost..." Sadly, Steve's manual page is already gone. Some rectal orifice downloaded all of Steve's hard and extremely useful work and put it out on a CD.

I just rechecked, All of the pages I remember from his site 7a-7e where all brought back up @ 00:45 this morning. Page 7b has all the owners manuals and it's working as of this evening.

"...working as of this evening..." There is a deity and his name is Steve. Thanks to both of ya'll. Even though it's not for me. Not having that research/reference tool hurt.

Sunray:
Practicing any part of this art is not a waste of time, and will add to his confidence prior to the hell which is the sniper training school at Ft Benning! Some guys like flight suite, and others like BDU's. Him knowing what feels right to him will help him! I have made 10-20 and still find little things that I change to improve.

Yes, he will be taught all these things at school, but every little thing you can breeze thru helps to let you give more attention to the harder to pass cycles!
