Making Mak 90 922 Compliant

I have a Mak 90 with a thumbhole stock, no flashider threads and no bayonet lug. I'm thinking of installing a Chinese type stock with a pistol grip. How many U.S. parts do I have to install to keep it compliant? Any help would be appreaciated.....Thanks

I BELIEVE to make a 922 compliant gun you can't have more than 10 imported key parts (there's a list of what counts and what doesn't).

With a non US receiver and barrel, you're never going to make the count. You certainly can't use a Chinese stock.

This is all going from fuzzy memory, so it's not 100%. I don't know how it actually applies to your rifle, if it even does. There may be no way to make it legal with the original receiver.

A brief search yielded the following . . . you can take this free information for what it's worth:

Quote:
. . . 16 countable parts of an AK rifle. No more than 10 of these parts may be imported.

(1) Receiver*
(2) Barrel
(3) Trunnion
(4) Muzzle attachments(flash hiders, brakes, barrel extensions, barrel nuts)*
(5) Bolt
(6) Bolt carrier
(7) Gas piston*
( Trigger*
(9) Hammer*
(10) Disconnecter*
(11) Buttstock*
(12) Pistol grip*
(13) Forearm handguards*
(14) Magazine body
(15) Follower
(16) Floorplate

* Denotes the most commonly available U.S. manufactured parts.

On a typical stamped receiver rifle you need to replace 5 parts with no muzzle attachment and 6 parts with a muzzle attachment.

On a typical milled recevier rifle you need to replace 4 parts with no muzzle attachment and 5 parts with a muzzle attachment, because there isn't a barrel trunion, it is part of the receiver.
