ria bayonet info

Ok history buffs, I’m always seeing posts of guys who know beaucoup details about M1’s, 1903’s, and the like. Can anyone give me any details about my 1905 model Bayonet? It is the 16” model, with the letters “RIA” (Rock Island Arsenal I assume…) over an ordinance flaming bomb over the year 1909. It has the S/N 155277 on the other side under the expected “US”. I would be curious about any production info, as well as how the other bayonets in that production run were finished. (ie. Parkerized blade, blue painted handle, etc.)

A 1909 would have wood handles, blued hilt and cross guard and a bright blade. The blue should extend on to the blade up to the serial number, but no further. The RIA is Rock Island Arsenal. According t the info I have Rock Island produced 26,267 bayonets during that fiscal year.

A little hard to tell for sure, but your bayonet looks as if it was reparked at some point. Nearly all earlier M1905s were parkerized in WWI or after because the brightness of the early M1905 might give a position away.
