Fred's New Year Speed Shoot -- Saturday, January 1st

To start the New Year out fast and hot (even though the weather won't be), come join us for a 300 round minimum speed shoot at pop-ups and any surprises the RWVA team can muster.

Besides -- recoil, muzzle blast, and hot brass are good for hangovers!

Time: 1 pm
Date: January 1, 2005
Place: Revolutionary War Veterans Association Range, Ramseur, NC

Instruction, pop-ups to 500 yards. See latest Shotgun News for details, or call 336-879-2144.

Great facility, great folks.

Bring 300 rounds minimum, and be prepared to shoot fast and well. Iron sights preferred, but scopes can be used.

Not M1As only; any centerfire rifle caliber .32 or smaller is welcome.

Just bring your desire to shoot well and learn.

Special bonus prize for the shooter(s) who travelled the longest distance to get there!

Call: 336-879-2144 for more info

Directions:
US-64 West to Ramseur, North Carolina. Left on Route 22.
Go about 2 miles, left on Old Siler City Rd. Go about 2 miles,
and go thru Parks X-Roads. Turn right on Willis Wright Rd.
(Look for range on left)

Remember: if you're just talking, you ain't shooting!

There will be others. On the other hand, a three man knot with you and Fred isn'y by any means a bad thing!

Load those mags, man!

I just found out that the New Years eve party I was to attend is cancaled, such a shame. I guess I'll have to go to the shoot instead. It has been an excelerated learning experiance for me. The first time I went I thought I was a good shot. When I left that day I was very humbled. I took 9 shots at a 500 yard head sized target and missed all 9. In just 3 trips to Fred's events and by listening to his 6 steps to a shot, I can now hit them 9 out of 10 shots. If you really want to learn, bring plenty of ammo. See you there

Beautiful weather, 20 souls, two from Alabama 2,3,400 yard popups, plenty of ammo, and a good time was had by all. Started early with 25 yard sight in, then a speed shoot for fun at a reduced tank target. It had a small dot to shoot out , Jack won. We then broke up into 7 teams of three each. Jack shot on Charlie and echo teams. We first shot for time, 3 shooters,12 targets, three repeations, quickest time Echo, followed by Charlie. Overall adding all three times Charlie by 4? seconds. Then shot al thel 400 yd popups before the 300, then shot the 200 yard popups. Again three times. Low individule and overall time to Echo by 12? seconds. Third stage was the attack. We shoot all targets then advance 40 yards, and engaged the 200 and 300 yard targets, then advanced again anothe 30 yards and engaged the 400 targets then again advanced to the 100 yard berm and shot all targets yet again X 3 .Again single time was Echo and aggrate time to Charlie. On this stage one target was acting up { wouldn't go down} thats life happening. Overall team to Charlie second Echo. Thanks to all for a fun day and any team that Jack is sure to have quick times. He is the best.

Well, if I owned my own 500 yard range 15 mins fom my house, I'd be the best, because I'd be out there every day

Going to have to keep an eye on Ed next time those pop up's are not going down Just kiddin Ed! Job well done!!!!

I had a great time, meet a lot of GOOD shooters and got some "Insight " from Fred as to me trying different shooting positions.

The seven teams competing for best time was an insight to all. Mainly when we had to adv. on the pop up's. Quite afew learned there is more than just shooting prone, sinched in a sling, jacket, breathing, etc. as to shooting after advancing down range.

Till next time!

Agree with all of the comments above. 70 degrees and beautiful on New Year's Day, and I get to shoot all afternoon?????

Heaven!

Great to see everyone, and don't forget about the next event --

RWVA Rifle Marksmanship School -- February 19th

I'll post more as the date approaches.....

Thanks, as always, to the RWVA team that makes these events a reality!
