| 2 GArnds + cash for M1a - Deal or no deal
What would you do? Federal Ordiance receiver with new NM barrel and rear sight. All USGI parts, nice Walnut stock, very good finished TRW bolt. The guy wanted $1450 for it. My offer was 2 SA Garands, 1.9 M, and a 3.5 M good shape, rack grades, barrels good, only a few non-SA parts, I have fully refinished all wood. These go at the shows here in Dallas for $650-$700 all day long. PLUS $500 cash. The guy turned it down. Deal or no deal?? |

Thank you. I though the deal was good without the cash. I tossed in $100 just for fun. I had no intention of paying the $500, I was getting pissed off and just wanted to see how big of a jerk he was going to be. My wife always tells me everything happens for a reason.

No deal. Guy was a jerk. You dodged a bullet. Last gun show, I saw a very nice looking Fed Ord with mounted scope for $1100. The problem with Fed Ords is that they are either really, really good rifles or complete junk, and I'm not good enough to tell the dif between the two at a gun show. |

The last time I was at Market Hall in Dallas,I picked up a early Fed Ord (ALL USGI parts ) sans a bolt for $650 drive out . I had a spare bolt in my parts box that I had headspaced to the rifle by a friend for the cost of $10 . I too was leerly of FED ORD and their not so stellar reputation but for the price I felt like I could not go wrong . You cannot find a parts kit in that price range so I picked it up ! I have yet to fire the rifle ,but it is a early serial # with GI parts . Sounds over priced to me . |

Sounds like you got away just in time. Fed. Ord. does not have a steller reputation. You would have been taken. You will find what you want for the right price. Take your time |

That was not a good deal for you. That being said, my frined has an early Fed Ord all GI except the receiver, and it is a great rifle. Very accurate, I saw him kill a deer at 422 yds, ( ranged with a laser) with one shot. Lucky shot.
