shortround, I deleted your post in the Norinco serial number thread since it was a duplicate of what you have posted here and the information is applicable to this thread. Thanks for the input.

Thanks, gamachinist. The "lotto" or random numbers on the receiver under the stock line are common to Chinese receivers.

My Poly Tech is marked on the heel of the receiver:

Poly Tech
M-14/S
7.62 NATO
0098X

Just in front of the gas tube plug, the barrel is lightly stamped "Made In China" CAI St Albans Vt

This rifle was bought used about five years ago for $400.00 at a gunshow and it came with a GI flash suppressor and new GI walnut stock. My rifle came from an estate sale and I am its second owner. It appeared to be in unfired condition. I have since installed a TRW bolt, TRW trigger group, gas tube assembly and a complete GI rear sight assembly. I have since added one of Hawks dummy selectors to the walnut stock and I've also had a GI plastic stock done up in woodland camo for my rifle. I also own a new unfired preban Springfield M-1A but the M-14/S is my baby.

Thanks, 7th. Do you see "KFS" marked anywhere on the barrel?

I have two Polytech Rifles and they are both marked on the left side with the receiver heel being total clear of any writing.

1.

M-14S.308
IDE USA SFLD Mich
POLYTECH CHINIA 037XX

(The the above stamp appears to have been applied after manufacter and the serial number appears to have been applied free hand with a electro engraver and is not a stamping)

2.

M-14S .308
IDE USA SFLD MICH. MADE IN
POLYTECH CHINA 068XX CHINA

(The serial numbers and "MADE IN CHINA" appear to have been stamped after manufacter.

I would appreciate a it if you could given aprox. time of manufactor or enterence into the county.

Serial number list has been updated. Based on my interview with Other Source # 12, IDE/CJA rifles were imported into the United States before September 13, 1994, probably 1993 to 1994.

Yes it is indeed marked with KFS Atl Ga Made in China CAI St Al Vt in front of the gas tube plug on the bottom of the barrel. But it is marked so very very lightly that I had to get a magnifying glass to make it out. I've owned the rifle for five years and I'd never even noticed this marking even when I was rebuilding it with GI parts.

Mine has no markings on the barrel--at least not on the visible part. But it does say IDE right on the receiver (as described on the M14 forum).
