Sage Stock and ACOG...

While I think that the ACOG has a lot going for it, they generally are pretty awkward to mount on an M1A due to stack height of the mounts. Does the Sage stock system offer any benefits for the ACOG? I know there is an adjustable cheek piece that should help.

Anybody done this and have a pic?

I don't know how much eye relief the ACOG needs but I do know that the forward rail on the SAGE is
a solid optics mount and you can use the stripper clip mount to bring the eyepiece closer if needed.

After looking at the many optic/mount options I decided to stay with the Scout concept.

I have the Leupold M8 2.5x28mm and an EOTech that mount forward of the receiver.

Also, the top rail on the SAGE can be machined to accept a quality 3 point side mount.
SEI does this for the MK14 Mod SEI.

I hope this helps.

Yes, it helps. It helps show me that the plain Sage stock has nowhere to mount an ACOG! The TA11 ACOG will have 2.5" of eye relief and needs to go just above the ejection port area. In the large pic, it would mount to the other rail you have in that area.

Here is a Sage Intl / M14 / M21 / M25 / M1A compatible optic mount that will accommodate both 1913 MIL-STD/Picatinny rail and Trijicon ACOG optics. The G1-OSM was designed to allow for the proper eye relief of today's modern optics.

No stack. Look-thru. Corrosion resistant. On-Off mounting repeatable zero. No removal of iron sights.

Hope this solves your needs.

It looks as if this would be the lowest available mounting for an ACOG on an M1A. However, I would prefer something lighter than stainless and something lower in cost than $375!

I know the cost is largely due to the choice of materials as stainless is neither cheap to buy nor cheap to machine. Any chance of seeing in 6065-T6 (Aluminum) or something similar?

The G1-OSM was designed specifically to meet the mission essential needs of the Maritime/Spec Ops communities - thus the reason behind the premium grade 17-4PH stainless steel.

We spared no expense on this due to the parameters that needed to be met. You are correct, the tooling and material costs are considerable, however, the quality is unmatched.

Future models may be available in other materials - at present, the demand for the 17-4PH model is keeping us busy - more to follow.
