I bought a Rack Grade HRA Greek return from the CMP when the first round of Greeks came in. It had a really ugly stock that had been bedded with a combination of metal pillar bedding in the front of the action and fiberglass or equivalent in the rear. I promply took it off and left it in a box in my parents warehouse while I sent the rifle to Warbird. He turned into a .308 and reparked it and I put it in a new a Wenig stock set. Perfection.
I was digging through a bunch of my stuff in the warehouse and came across this stock again. When I pulled it out of the box I noticed what looked like a SA stamp on the side. It came home with me and I put a coat of BLO on it last night. This morning I took some pictures.
It has been well sanded and the original stamp was struck off center so the upper portion is all you can make out between the sanding and the open pores on the walnut. The circle P on the grip is of a style that I have not seen before. The loop in the P is wider and not as tall vertically. The SA stamp on the side is larger than others I have seen. It is between 7 and 8 tenths wide. There is no sign of a ordnance wheel on the side or the heel of the grip but with all the sanding, who knows.
Here are a couple of pics. I was hoping I could at least eliminate some of what it cannot be to try and see what it might be. Any opinions would be appreciated.
