Stopped in a local shop today and found a pre-war M1, Springfield S#4088*, asking price is $1199.00 for it. Total mix master, barrel dated 1961, post war guts and stock. OH WELL! ![]() |

If you figure the parts value it is about right. Perhaps $200.00 less you do it.

Depending on the TE and MW I'd hop on it in a heart beat!! CMP is getting $600+ for 4 digit receivers....

JAS, you are correct. It is a five digit reciever, wasn't allowed to remove the TG to check on the internals. Sad thing is this IS the going rate that I've found on ANY Garand sold by your local shops in my area. I know of a few Blue Sky and Century imports that are in very poor condition that are going for MORE than this one is. Thank God for the CMP!

Gunshow prices in this area (Central FL) range from $750-$1100... A few fine specimens ![]() Some of these are "correct, original and as issued".....5 digit with 1944 barrels etc.... Buyer beware! Gerry |

I haven't seen anything cheaper than $900 at a gun show in the last year. Most of the $900 range guns looked like the dealer dragged them to the show behind his truck to get them there as well.

Hey, I saw, last year, a SA that was unissued, had a six-digit S/N, a rare PB op-rod and a Type 2 NM rear straight from SA! I should've bought it, was a bargain at $2,650.00!!!

I've heard of those, in fact, I think I have one in the garage now! Maybe Gerry would like to snap it up at a mere 1500?? Think of the profit potential! Dave |
