| What about spare parts?
I was watching back to back war movies and stories Monday to celebrate Veterans Day. I noticed in several of the movies the M1 Garand was the battle rifle of the day. It got me wondering if the GI's in battle field conditions carried any M1 Garand spare parts. Like trigger assembles, op rod springs, ect? Bill |

The only spares my daddy carried was bullets - as many as he could. No need for anything else. |

Soldiers did not carry any spare parts. If their rifle broke in battle, they threw it down and tried to find another weapon. There were units who scoured the battlefield looking for abandoned weapons who then took them back to field repair stations for inspection and changing parts.

the Spare-parts kits you see advertised in places like SARCO,etc in the small packets were for Platoon-level and Company-level(Echelon one) Armorers.
