Noob, how close to all parts original SA from CMP
Just wondering how close to all parts original with an M1 I picked up from the CMP Field Grade USGI
Right side of receiverD28291
Under Butt plate Small hole has the letter U with small lazy 8
Elevation knob HRA
two extremely faint cartouches, can't make them out. Walnut stock.

Your bolt is probably correct for the rifle...
The Op-rod is a post war replacement.
The elevation knob is Korean era.
Something missing from the barrel markings. Should be a month and date. 1-3 is short a digit somewhere....
Look for markings on the windage knob, trigger housing, hammer (face), safety and gas lock screw.

And to answer the next obvious question,as it left the factory it would have had:
SA 11 or 12 of 1944 barrel
-9 curved side op-rod
-14 trigger housing
-7 or -8 hammer
-12 follower assembly
type III lockbar sights
SA/GAW or SA/NFR cartouched stock, it's in an overlap range.
But,as it sets it's also a great example of a USGI Garand that has been rebuilt many times from hard service,also an "original" unto itself. Enjoy and welcome. TJR
