Loose Gas Cylinder

I know I have read and seen pictures of fixing a loose gas cylinder. I just put together a nice mix master and noticed that the gas cylinder is a little loose.

I remember seeing a few pictures of I believe a 3/8 inch scockit, to fix the splines on the barrel...does anyone have those pictures, or can anyone tell me the best way to fix the gas cylinder?

I use a 1/8" flat-faced punch and gently hit the edges of the top barrel spline.

Ok, I just peened the splines and everything looks great...I found Cornbread's link and I found the pictures...

I'm going to the range tomorrow so I'll see how she shoots.

Some are saying you have to put a spud in the end of the barrel to protect the from crushing the bore...is this necessary?

Dave, not really. you're not tapping the barrel hard enough to do any compressing, escpecially since this is done with an 8 oz. hammer. If it does compress you either hit way too hard or, the barrel's too soft and should be rejected.

You don't need to whack the darned thing guys, just tap it until you see the metal edge of the spline deform.
