Just got my first one a little help

Hello guys just got my first M1 Garand its a Springfield # 1142XXX
can you guys tell me a little about it here are some markings

Receiver top SS# 1142XXX . on the right side D28291-17 and a R 45
Trigger group D28290-12-SA
Hammer C46008-5-SA
OP rod G535382 SA
Bolt D28287-12SA top of S-A10
Barrel Top D6535448 42 MD 29 and by the op opening S-A-10-51

What does all this mean?

Those noumbers that you see are basically part numbers for each part. From what I can figuer out you rifle was made in Jan 1943. the trigger housing is correct, the hammer and barrel are from aresenal replacements during rebuild. I dont know of any op-rod having a G in it did you mean a 6535382 or D35382? D35382 is a WWII vintage and 6535382 is post war vintage. hope this helps.

yep your right its a 6 not a G thanks for the help. I think for 650 I did good around here if you find one its around 800+

Just got back form the range today and she shoots great. I think I'll have to pick up a couple more of them.

kursktiger- the stock is a GI but it did not look like that when it came home the first thing I did was to put the stock in the dishwasher and then some BLO and thats how it come out.

I noticed your pic was titled "165Rem". If you were shooting Remington 165 grain 30-06 factory ammo, it probably is too hot for the gas system of your M1. Take a look at earlier threads on this topic.
