Sorry, there just isn't much information in the common references with regard to the handguard wood. You will find some discussion about early gas trap (stamped drawing numbers) vs gas port wood and a little more about early Winchester rear handguards (no cut for op rod) vs SA during WW II.

Thanks! I've never heard anyone talk about ID them but I was'nt sure so I thought I would ask anyhow. I know my stock is SA as well as my rifle. Thanks again for your time!
