If You Were Going to Have a JCG Match gun Built Who Would

Have to do the work and the fine tuning needed for a reliable match gun. It needs to be John C. Garand match legal and not insanely expensive. Who would be the best gun builder out there for such a project gun. I have a woodless Dane just dyeing for a new barrel, I'm thinking Criterion, but need more feedback on them from those of you that have shot them. One gunshop worker told me to go with the Krieger but then the cost goes up considerably. It will get Wenig wood and will have to be part of the custom fitting. I'm leaning towards DGR but thought I'd put this out there if anyone knows of anyone else that might take special care in making JCG match guns and has a great reputation as does Dean?

Building a JCG match Garand is not hard to do. Any decent armorer can do the job.

Building a NM Garand that can shoot with the AR's is the hard thing.

You won't go wrong with Dean, he knows his stuff and will build you a rifle that will be as accurate as an M1 can get and remain JCG match legal.

Eric Pierce of National Match Armory is a very good bet-he's made the presentation rifles for the CMP for the past several years. He made mine from a woodless RG several years ago and used a Davis barrel. Check out his website (of the same name-Natioal Match Armory) and give him a call-he'll work with you.

Go with DGR, Nat'l Match Armory does fine work but, real pricey. Whatever way you go will be pricey. It takes alot of time to find the right mix of parts. It's not just the barrel but, the op-rod, gas-cylinder, triggergroup, stockset, etc. all have to be switched back and forth until the right setup is found. Guys will tell you that any 2" rifle can win but, rifles less than 2" win alot more!!!!
