| Danish ammo
A member at a local club purchased a case of the danish ammo from the CMP a while ago, he doesn't shoot a whole lot and the last time I saw him, I noticed that the ammo he had were black tips. When I asked him where he got them, he said thet were in the box of Danish ammo. It turns out that the bottom 4 bando's in the crate are all TW 43 black tips. Has anyone else run into this surprise? I know that you haven't been able to get this stuff for quite a while but I don't remember reading about this anywhere. |

That's Twin Cities AP. I've never gotten AP from the CMP, but I did get a case of LC where a tracer slipped thru. The orange paint was almost totally gone, so it was easy fo them to miss. I spotted it before I fired it, so I knew it was coming. Its so cool seeing those streaks running down range ![]() Hang onto the AP. I have a bunch for when a armored division of SS samauri zombie paratroopers hit the neighborhood. |

I did run into a lucky suprise a few years back. A buddy of mine owned a small gunshop with a very large clientle, so naturally he ordered a good bit of ammo. He received 4 cans of 30-06 surplus while I was in the store and suggested I look through it to see if I wanteed any since I have 3 garands. Lo and behold 356 a very good AP from 1940-1945. Came from the usual assortment of plants. Only have fired 2 clips for testing and have had no misfires. Also, I was at a gun show about 5 years ago when the doors opened and purchased over 200 rds of lake city 30-06 from the 60's, same fella had 100 rds of tracer all at 5 bucks a box. Those days are long gone.

At the local gun shows it is common to see black tip armor piercing bullets pulled from GI ammo for $15.00/100. Silver tip armor piercing incendiary is $1.00 a pop just for the bullets!

I need some black tip bullets for reloading. About the Danish ammo, I found it on bando's at the last gunshow. $36 a bando. Yes, that's six dollers per 8 round clips. [rolleyes] |

These 4 bandos were in the bottom of the case of Danish ammo. They appeared to be WW II issue ( TW 43) . It just struck me as odd that there would be this ammo in a caes (Assumedely sealed and received from the CMP. I guess it just goes to show you that just about anything can slip through..

Cap, Talon sold loaded AP ammo a while ago for a fair price. anything more than about 0.40 to 0.50 per rd is too much. if you are set to reload, it's hard to beat buying the tips and loading your own. |
