| BWT was supposed to come today
Got an email from CMP today, the Big White Truck was coming, WOOHOO. I ran the tracking number, it'll be here around 10:30 am, WOOHOO. 10:30, no BWT, 12:30, no BWT. I ran the tracking number, it's on the BWT, still due at 10:30 am. 4:30, still no BWT, I ran the tracking number, it was delivered at 9:30 am, OK who is the joker, this is way past cruel. Wait just one minute, who the [email protected]#$ is this person who signed for it, I've never heard of them, they don't work here! I called the BWT people, they could care less, the package was delivered. I explained that it was NOT delivered to the address on the box, and that the signer was a total stranger. The response was, soooo what do you want us to do about it. I than explained that it was a high powered rifle, OH, so what do you want us to do about it. If it was a firearm you should have paperwork to receive it. So you're telling me that this stranger did? OH, this could be a problem, soooo what do you want us to do about it. I suggested a call to the BATF, explain to them that you merely dropped it off wherever you saw fit, and gave it to the first person you saw that looked like they could sign their name. I'm relatively sure they will tell you what to do about it. Finally I talked to someone who actually gave a S#@T. They were trying to reach the driver, but to no avail. Hopefully I'll get a phone call tonight. I should make them buy me a collector grade for my trouble. Has anyone ever had this kind of run around before. I can't begin to tell you how furious I am at this level of incompetence, it's not a toaster-oven after all, it's a gun! MORONS!!!!! |

You have every right to be pissed. We pay a premium to have these rifles delivered overnight. And I don't know about ya'll, but everytime it says it'll be here by 10:30 AM. More like 5:30 PM--a full day shot because they can't give you a 3 hour estimate on when they will be there. I really like it when they gladly take that $21 for express delivery, yet manage to take 3 days for delivery. In your case, I'd be spitting mad, too. Keep calling them. Get sombody's extension number, and drive them nuts until they correct the situation. Be polite, be curteous, but drive them crazy. |

Every word is true! I work 15 ft. from RIGHTWINGGUNNUT and was witness to the whole thing! He failed to mention that his trusty sidekick Dom11b was scouring the neighborhood looking for the stray weapon and accosting FedEx drivers. Out of sheer friendly concern? Hell no! Well, a little. My open order for 2 rifles is coming to the same address! This incompetent must be held accountable and corrected NOW! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You need to notify the CMP Immediately!!!!!! They will get fedex in gear. They may also send you another one and have the FBI find the missing one. This has been done in the past. So get ahold of the CMP! |

Definitely call CMP and tell them about the run around with fed ex. They are making a lot of money delivering these rifles and when some one from CMP calls them they start to care because there is money involved. Ray |

computermedic, I will give them until 12:00 noon to put that rifle in my hands, after that the calls go out. Diplomacy first, then release the hounds.

Your being much kinder than me after the run around they gave you. With my LE past and not wanting an instance were a cmp rifle accidently gets in the wrong hands I would have already called the CMP to get it back quick. |

Much nicer than I would have been too.. I would have ripped into them after they didn't feel like it was their problem.. Definately call the CMP; I am sure they can get to the proper people that will make things happen.. |

All is well, the rifle was put in my hands at 9:00 am sharp. After hearing 10,000 apologies, I got down to checking her out. First off, the box was unopened. My God this is a nice rifle, Greek SA SG #5884XXX. It has the origional barrel, and is a gas cylinder plug away from being a correct grade. The finish is in excellent condition, and the wood is in suprisingly good shape. I will be breaking out the oven cleaner, and the pure tung oil soon enough. I was concerned about the Greek rifles, but they are now put to rest. I hope you guys fare better with the shipping, and as well with your rifles, good luck, Bruce

Glad things worked out for you, Bruce. I was concerned because I live in Maryland too, in the city of Absurdistan. ![]() |

Fed-X dose stupid things in Southwest Florida also. Last year I was gone on a fishing tournament from a Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. Fed-X came by my house Friday morning with 3 M1's and just left them on my front door step without getting a signature. Needless to say when I returned home on Sunday and found the rifles, I was pretty upset. I live on a pretty busy street and anybody driving by looking at my house could have seen the box's.

![]() ![]() Might as well use a hammer and chisel to remove bug & tar spots off your Corvette..... Why not use something that is a bit more "wood fiber friendly" than a caustic Lye solution???? Anyway... sounds like you got a great rifle. Just my thoughts, Swampy Garands forever | |

You might try Minwax Antique Funiture cleaner first, works great. If the stock is really oily then you could use the dishwasher. I have had excellent luck with the washer.

On the old Battle Rifles there was a thread on the virtues of oven cleaner. It degenerated into "cancer ridden death sticks" or something like that. I had a hoot just reading it. I too have had excellent results from the dishwasher method. |

If you just want to clean it up, rather than strip it down, try denatured alchohal. Its cheap and hd and lowes will have it. Get one of the scotch-type pads, and some paper towels. Get the stock war (sunlight) and apply the alchohal to the pad and lightly scrub. When you'vve gotten the worst off, soak the paper towels and rub the stock down really good until you aren't bringing up any more oil. the alchohal is wood friendly, it'll let you preserve most or all of the "armory red" patina, and it won't stick in the wood and cause rust (unlike lye and similiar solutions). Just my two cents. It's worked great for me. Unless you are trying to return a stock to absolute pristine condition, its the way to go. |
