Riverbank Armory

I bought a rear flip sight for my National Postal Meter Carbine from Riverbank Armory as well as a type 1 barrel band, and front sight. The sight has the correct markings and patina to appear real USGI. The Barrel Band looks brand new with UN stamped on it and the front sight is marked NN on top aft of the blade. It looks real new too. Whats the word out there in Gun Hub Land on Riverbank Armory????

Thanks, Magnafique

Thanks for no comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This ain't Reddit, Magnafique...there are probably fewer than fifty regularly active participants on this board, and very few are checking for new posts on a daily basis. Among those here, however, are some of the most knowledgable firearms experts on the planet.

My bet is that in the next few days someone who knows something about Riverbank Armory will see your post and chime in. It may take a while though, so be patient.

how about "never heard of them"- don't comment on topics of which I have no knowledge or interest
and you're kind of FREAKIN RUDE
if I was to give my comments on the 30 cal carbine both cartridge and gun, you'd be insulted in a major way- suffice it to say I've used it, found it lacking, and don't have one in my armory- same deal for the 7.62x39
I don't know about other services, but in my ao the only ammo available was from marvin, and you had to win it at poker or trade- I made the one I had "disappear" tout de suite- for an m-14 - entirely too much rifle for a arvn and the carbine suited him just fine. the 14, as everybody knows had ammo commonality with the 60, and I could beg/ barter/steal or req ammo from any formation that happened to be passing through the ao or back at stores- 100 rounds to a m60 is nothing, but that fills all my ammo pouches

Patience, Brasshopper--I've seen many days over the years with less than five posts across the entire site. Our glory days of numbers and activity are in the past, and many prolific contributors from those heady days have moved on to the Hereafter, but...

It may take time for the few who remain to get back to you, but you can have reasonable confidence that when you get an answer it'll be the best its provider can give.

Rather than the instant-gratification of the modern world, try thinking of this place as more like an old small-town country store, a slower pace and a different culture that is gradually dying out--it also helps to consider that many of these guys have known each other since way back in Prodigy DIAL-UP days, and even I seem a Johnny-come-lately by that standard.

I suggest you do a Google search for them. I found this, Ripoff Report | Riverbank Armory Complaint Review Riverbank, California: 781672 But that is only one man's opinion. I never heard of them before. If you want only GI parts I reccomend William Ricca, his reputation is sterling

Charlie Petty 02-23-2015 08:59 AM

Sadly the Capt. is right.

But you can also learn something from the lack of response. I've never heard of them so why should I waste my time and yours with a useless post?

t-star 02-23-2015 09:42 AM

that's a pretty damning report- if he did so poorly by that guy, I would have nothing further to do with him and any parts I did buy I would have verified by an independent source

I remember the days of Battlerifles then Outback(?) to now and boy has it changed in the amount of conversation/participants but I still like to check in since I am still junior to most of you fellas.

t-star 02-23-2015 10:12 AM

don't think it was outback- it took a minute to get the joke in the title- and it was 2 words between battlerifles and gunhub

SpecialEd 02-23-2015 10:49 AM

I thought the point of the Internet and having all this information at your fingertips was to find out about a company before you send them your money. :duh:

Diamondback 02-23-2015 11:10 AM

@Javlin, if you check mini-profiles you'll note I'm junior even to you. :)

Origin: BattleRifles (when I joined)
Next: Your American Backyard (shorthand A.m.B.a.c.k - remove periods)
Then Fernando Coelho bought Woolrich Elite Outfitter Tactical and some management changed became E.O.T.a.c. (remove periods)
Finally, Fernando sold the forum to current owner Lash who changed the name again to GunHub as it is today.

Notable members past or present have included:
--Massad Ayoob
--Walt Rauch
--Frank James
--Charles Petty
--Dean Speir (whatever you think of him, he was a participant here)
who else am I missing?

Most of those lights have moved on to greener pastures--"Farmer Frank" has had major medical issues including at least one stroke and is on my prayer list, and Mas now has a blog through Backwoods Home Magazine. (The last forum I saw him post on was the remains of The High Road.) There've been times where I've thought about starting a "Wall of Remembrance" for our members of distinction who either no longer participate or have been Called Home...

tks for posting that-am backyard was only for a very short time if I remember correctly- eo was plagued with ads to buy something from ferdando,i remember dean speir very well

Kevin Gibson 02-23-2015 12:00 PM

Personally I have had pretty darned good luck buying Carbine parts through e-bay. I just fixed a feller's broken extractor with an e-bay sourced NOS extractor. Actually came smothered in cosmoline in wax paper; pretty cool for $16.00 delivered.

I still go look at the old codger here (How to fix the Oscar's telecast ) just for his style of writing can bring a smile to the face.He garnered my admiration one day on the forum by burying me one day and all I could do was smile and say "good one".In which he replied paraphrasing "good to see one can take it and smile".

Captain Gyro,

Fwiw, I miss the EOF from battlerifles.com. = We once had a VERY active forum.

Nonetheless, we still are, imVho, THE BEST firearms site on "the worldwidewierd".

yours, sw

Agree 100%.

The Gun Hub is what you'd be left with if you deleted all the worthless blathering out of any other forum. No, better.

SpecialEd 02-24-2015 07:46 AM

A high Signal to noise ratio, as Dean would have said.

Diamondback 02-24-2015 08:34 AM

Just for the hell of it, I took a look at the member list, and for some fun stats...

20,939 registered accounts, of which 6504 have a last-login date of "N/A". 10,301 non-posting lurkers or "registered and forgots", 4373 "One Post Wonders" (1-3 posts).

Top 3 posters are Snake45 at 12,447 to date, JR (last seen in 2011) at 9290 and csmkersh (with a long hiatus) at 9033.

Riverbank Armory

Thank you for all of the comments............ Sure didn't want to come off rude and I apologize. By your comments I have learned a lot about this forum and the few who keep it going. Count me in as an active member. I have learned much from all of you.

My National Postal meter carbine s/n 410XXXX is about to receive a re-parkerized Underwood barrel and NPM front sight. I found an NPM USGI rear flip sight for it for $145.00. All of the internals are NPM. Next I am going to apply a hand rubbed oil finish. When done will post pictures.
