Oh Happy Days....

So the other day I get the chance to trade for a Winchester M1 carbine. Guy said his dad bought it in New Orleans 20-30 years ago and then gave it to him, said he wasn't sure if it had ever been shot since it was purchased. Also came with a 30 round mag with the mark SEY. I gave up a used CZ-75 Compact and a leather IWB holster. I tend to think I did pretty good. I'm not super smart on these things but it seems to be a "correct" Winchester. I'd love to hear some opinions on authenticity and an estimate of value. At any rate it looks good in the safe next to my arsenal rebuild "Rock-Ola"

You traded a CZ75 and holster for that? I would say you came out on top in that deal. Congrats!

Unless you traded in a selective fire version, you got yourself one heckuva deal. Incredible.

so any ideas as to what this thing is worth to a collector? I'm not a collector I just enjoy shooting, so it may go onto the chopping block so I can grow my collection.

I'd put it closer to the high end. Probably $900-$1100.

Yeah, it's all winnie. I've seen too many Winnie Garands not to recognize that distinctive Milling and machine-work.

You got the wrong guy. I've never lived in NOLA. I was in Ft. Polk La. from Dec95-Jan97. Like to know who's using my name though.
