M1 Carbine data and information book

I was at a gun show over the wekend and saw a book a guy was using to check out an M1 carbine. I didn't get the name of the book figuing I could "google" it on the Internet and find the name (because the book had a very uniques look to it). Wasn't able to find it...so I'll ask you all for some help.

The book was about 2 1/2 to 3 inches thick and was sprial bound with write wire. The book was shaped about like a DVD case 7 1/2 inches by 5 inches.

The guy had it opened to page that was headed Saginaw and it showed what barrels were supplied by what manufacturer for use on the Saginaw receiver. I remember seeing Buffalo Arms listed as one among others that supplied barrels. There was also much more information about parts included on that page. I just happened to glance over his shoulder for a few seconds and thought that would be a handy book to have. Now I can't find anything like it on the Internet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try "U.S. M1 Carbines - Wartime Production" by Craig Riesch. It has exactly that type of data.

If it was 2-3" thick and spiral bound, it was the J. C. Harrison Carbine book-------I would recommend the Reisch book as a better, less expensive alternative.

And even though its not perfect, Reisch's book is far more accurate.

Thanks for the info guys......I appreciate it. I do have Riesch's book and agree it has a wealth of infomation...but the quick glance I got of the book at the show (and never seeing it before) whetted my appetite for more.

Jimb and Quagmire

Jimb and Quagmire would you recommend the Reisch book as a good definitive "starter" reference for the M-1 carbine ?

Does it cover sling types and pouch types in it ?

Also where to obtain it in the UK please...Amazon ?

kindest regards

Lloyd

While it is far from "definitive", it is an excellant starter. It is available through Amazon. The best book is War Baby by Ruth; however, that is a very expensive book. War Baby Comes Home, also by Ruth is the book that covers the accessories. (Also expensive.)
