Interesting Inland trivia

I was reading a classic musclecar magazine yesterday and came across mention of an "Inland shifter" in a '68 Road Runner. Did some research on the net and came up with Mopar used some Inland shifters 1966-68, and also reference to Inland shifter in a '67 Camaro. Could this have been the same Inland division of GM? Were they still part of GM at that time? Odd that they'd have been supplying Chrysler with parts. But maybe not--American Motors used parts from both GM and Chrysler at times.

Does Inland still exist today? What do they make? How about Saginaw Steering Gear and Guide Lamp Divisions? Are they still around?

Inland Div. no longer exists as it was. Those services have been absorbed by other GM divisions. The Inland name has now been transfered to the GM trim division in Cleveland Ohio. I can't give you any answers about the SG or Guide Lamp Divisions, But I'll try to look them up if I have time.

I'll see what I can find on Saginaw, but for the moment, here's what I got on Guide Lamp....General Motors' Guide Lamp Division, is now Delphi Interior and Lighting Systems.

Well it appears that Saginaw Steering Gear is also part of the Delphi Group. I guess anyone wanting more info on these divisions now has a place to start. Have fun!
