Out at the range today I stopped in the gunshop on my way out and saw a beat up looking carbine in one of those old Choate side folding stocks. Looking closer it turned out to be a mid -43 Inland with the flip sight and T1 band! Took her apart there and inside she was all early parts including the dogleg hammer and push button safety. OTD for less than $600 NOT import marked!
Stripped her down and cleaned years of junk and filth and powder residue off of her and then swapped the Choate for my only spare stock.... a late war M1A1 with the M2 field mod cut. I think it looks ok!
Inland 743xxx SG (large SG) subcontract
barrel 5-43 Inland MW "1" bore mint.
front sight "S"
piston nut, early non-modified
T1 bbl band, swivel was missing so I put my only spare on it..an unmarked narrow swivel.
slide is the early round cut "P.I"
bolt, flat blued "IO" left lug.
firing pin, early "RI"
extractor possible modified early "WI"
Ejector, early angled style
rear sight, flip unmarked..staked base "S"
Trigger housing, inland logo, early
sear, early, "RI"
hammer, dogleg, blued "HI"
hammer spring 26 coils
safety, push button, early unmarked
mag catch, smooth face "EI"
mag catch retainer spring, early

Nothing against the Choate stock, but it sure looks a whole lot better in the M1A1 stock!!
