well, kinda... yeah... but what the hell does that mean? ![]() ok, I have one... spent a lot of time on the Mak site before and just after I got one (Russian IJ70) bought lots of mags and other items. Then it kinda wore off on me ![]() just like my '43 Walther P38. They both kinda just sit in the safe while I play around with my others & new favorite FN Hi Power. Don't get me wrong, my Mak is extremely reliable... is well made (for what it is), fairly accurate, & most of all inexpensive. |

FNHipower.com, but usually just as an observer... same login "icormba". It's how I found out about the FEG and that it's actually on the CA apporved DOJ list. I was on 1911forum until I bought a RI-1911 and got booted off ![]() |

You bet. Maks are fantastic handguns for the little bit of coin they demand. I love them. I've got a commercial Russian model in .380 and it's a hoot to shoot. |

I kinda like the MACs, I've got a chicom comml import - my shooter, an east German police import and a Russian Military that I brought back from Nam. To me buying a MAC in 380 is a waste of time. The 9x17 380 is noticeably less powerfull than the 9x18 MAC rd. Thats sorta like buying a PPK in 32 acp when you could have the same gun in 380. Original Hi-Powers are my most favorite pistol ever made!!! I carried one in Nam, it's now hanging on the wall in my gun room along with the war trophy papers that got it home. I have carried a Hi Power ever since my return from Nam 34 years ago. Thought i'd up grade to a "more modern pistol many years ago so I got an M59 Smith and sold my mil contrakt HP. BIG mistake! 2 mags thru the 59 and it went to the next gun show and I came home with another 50s vintage mil contrakt, which I still carry today. I'll Never make that mistake again!!!!! Sarge |

I have an East German, and an IJ-70. Kind of cute, in a clunky sort of way. Put Pearce Grips on both. The E. German weapon is clearly superior to the Russian. ![]() |

The .380 is not as sharp in most loadings... the 9MM Mak round is kind of midline between .380 and 9MM Parabellum. But there are some stout .380 loads that catch up to it. I like the .380 version better because in my neck of the woods... er... desert... .380 is actually available and I can share a box between it and my P3AT. |

I have two East German Makarovs and a Russian .380 high cap and they're fine weapons. The East Germans have a much nicer fit and finish than the Russian .380. 7th |

I got my first MAK about a month ago. An E.G. in very good condition. I love it but since the E.G.'s are getting harder and harder to come by and I want a MAK with a carry package on it. I am going to pick up a Bulgarian at the first good opportunity. My local shop has two Russians in really good shape. Pretty nice triggers for MAK's too. They are going for $215 and $195. Ed |

My russian has a suprisingly good trigger... for a Mak that is. I need to have it refinished, so I might have some other work done to it at the same time... maybe some polishing/melting work to make it a better carry gun. The thing is a heck of a good shooter.

Makarov.com offers some serious Carry and "melting" packages but they are not taking any new work in until at least January. Check them out HERE. I really like the looks of that Matte Gray Moly finish they have pictured. Ed |
