Will it cause surface rust on the Gun?
As an get older and I collect more and more guns I find myself running out of space in the ole gun safe.
Therefore while shopping I found a handgun rack at Cabelas. It is a very nice looking rack that is made of vinyl-coated steel rods and holds four handguns. My question is will the contact of the gun metal and the vinyl cause the gun to rust where it touches the vinyl. Now be mindful I keep my safe moisture free with the reusable hydrosorbent silica gel.
Thanks for your input.

I have 2 of those racks but I have them on my gun bench to hold
handguns while cleaning after range sessions. After cleaning
I leave the handguns on the racks for a few days to dissipate any cleaning chemicals before packing them away.
I have never had any problems with blued or stainless guns in
the racks. However, I only use the racks to keep order to the
bench while cleaning/working on the guns. When packing away
in my safes I put them in partialy opened gun cases and stack
them sideways for more room.
Also, I live in a semi-arid climate here in Colorado so rust isn't
to much of a problem if you use care. I don't feel, however, that
these racks would cause any rust concerns but I would imagine
you are much more humid in your area.
