| Wenig stock set for garand
I've got an SA CMP garand and would like to put a GOOD stock set on it. What do you guys think of the Wenig stock sets? Are they worth the money in terms of looks and fit? Thanks. ![]() |

In a word, YES!!! ![]() Well, I think so anyways... ![]() If you get one, then get it from Dean's Gun Restorations. Dean does a bit of inletting on the stocks that you won't get buying one directly from Wenig & IMHO, it's worth the extra money. I bought a standard grade fitted/unfinished Wenig stock from Dean & I couldn't be happier with it. The fit & feel of the stock is just outstanding. click the pic for a higher resolution image... ![]() The Wenig is on the '41 SA on the left. I didn't stain it, just few coats of Danish oil. |

Quagmire, I was browsing Ebay and noticed an upper handuard that is a perfect match for the middle stock in the above photo. It needs to be reoiled to highlight the flame in the grain. Just in case you are interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...277740844&rd=1 |

Thanks Ralfus, that does look like a good match! ![]() cadillo: I used Deft danish oil on those three (went overboard on the HRA). Lately though I've been using Watco danish oil. It seems to give a more military finish than the Deft does. |

It cost $215.00 plus some shipping. However, Quagmire is right, unless you are familiar with fitting a stock to the Garand, get one from Dean. The Wenig stocks require a lot of final fitting (more so than Boyd's stocks) but they can be fit better that way. |
