How to remove krinkle finish?

I'm wanting to strip the krinkle finish off of a Springfield M-1a stock. can anyone suggest a good solvent to remove the finish?

re: krinkle stuff

reply with answers if you can..
Was this a sprayed krinkle finish (intentional) or was it varnished many years ago and the finish "alligatored"
date the finish if possible

btw: best to partially strip it with the appropriate agent, then finish w/ sanding. If you try to sand it from the start, some of the texture will be mirrored into the wood (bad thing)

It's the spray on krinkle finish that Springfield Armory is putting on the fiberglass stocks from the factory. I can only assume it's some type of spray on epoxy or something. The stock came from the factory that way within the last few years.

If it's an epoxy, then acetone is generally the preferred thinner. Don't pour it on, use an acetone-moistned cloth to barely soften the ridges, then sand.
Lather, rinse, repeat
just kidding -repeat the above steps till smooth

If you use acetone use it outside and wear gloves.
