Bi-Pod for an AR-50
I am looking for a bi-pod that is sturdy enough for this .50 BMG.
I have tried a Harris which will work, but I think it is a tad bit on the lite side. Not to take anything away from Harris, I have them on other rifles.
Armalite offers on their web sight a bi-pod either made by, or called Prince. To my understanding it has one height setting. I very well could be wrong about that info.
Called Barrett firearms and they said thier's would not work.
Open for any suggestions.
Thanks, The Mole
Darin Prince makes them for Armalite. He also makes a very good rear mono-pod($80) I got mine direct from him and saved money. Also buy the screw set he makes. They work well. The newest thing is the all brass 750 gr bullets he has. The work well and are much cheaper than Barnes or Hornady A-Max bullets. I paid 70cents each plus a approx$8 flat rate shipping for 500 bullets. You can contact him at http://[email protected]
I have purchased 2 sets of bi/mono-pods and screw kits from him as well as bullets. He is good to deal with.
The bipod is not adjustable but I do not think you will need it to be. His seems to work well. I like Harris bi-pods but they are too light for the AR50 for me.
My buddy has an AR50, and we have been shooting it off of sandbags; he tried using a Harris bipod that he already had (usually mounted on another rifle) and it folded up like a cheap lawnchair. I saw a guy at the range who had one, with an M-60 bipod and a homemade adapter. It was rather tall, but appeared sturdy. I saw Mr. Prince post a special on his bipod and monopod, and also IIRC scope rail, on another board awhile back, and it was quite a bit less than what Armalite was charging.
My screw up his email is http://[email protected]
