Need a good variable scope for my .17HMR rifle
I have about decided on the Bushnell Elite 3200 series in the
7-21x40MM but would like some opinions. This rifle is a brand new savage 93R17BVSS and I will be target shooting at distances up to 200 yards and also hunting squirrel in the woods.
I thought about one of the 5-15X models but was not sure if 15X would be enough for punching paper out to 200 yards.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Great rifle, I got the heavy barrel too but the blued version. It came packaged with a scope and mount. Savage doesn't advertise the .17 packages on their web site, but the scope and mount was packed with the rifle in a sealed box.
I can check later, but I think they gave me a Bushnell or Simmons 4 X 9 or 5 x15. 9X might be a little marginal for 200 yards but I think 5 X 15 should be a good choice for hunting and target. I hunt in heavy woods so for me 5x would be a good power for squirrel hunting. I'll look at the scope when I get home.
