NYC CCW and attacks on Jewish residents.

It would be preaching to the choir here to point out that recent events in the New York City area have proven the admonitions of certain New York State and City political figures that self-defense firearms are not needed in the area to be false.

So, what I will ask is, I wonder if there is any outreach going on from New York area Sport or Pistol Clubs to the Jewish community? It would seem to be something that could be very beneficial to Jewish residents of the State, indeed, to all residents. It may also be a new solid reason for certain Pro-RKBA folks in the area to press for an overturn of that old "Sullivan Act."

DavidE,

I guess that it's too much to ask but I keep thinking that the "leadership" & the ordinary citizens of NYC & the rest of NY State will WISE UP & finally figure out that the MORE suitably investigated/trained people who can carry a concealed firearm EVERYWHERE the LESS such incidents that will happen.

MOST 2-footed PREDATORS don't want to BE SHOT & KILLED in the attempt to commit such a HORROR STORY, as happened at the synagogue.

SMARTEN UP New Yorkers, is my suggestion.

Our congregation has about a DOZEN marksmen present at each service & their identity is known only to the Board of Deacons & the pastor.

Well said, Gentlemen. I have a feeling that more of these "Attempted Mass Shooting" cases will end with a "Bang, Bang" situation.

A couple of school gun attacks ended up in similar fashion recently. Hopefully, the possibility that the attack will meet a quick response will deter those looking for a sick measure of fame or some other gratification in having some length of time to go about shooting at a bunch of unarmed people.

This is becoming a consensus in quite a few places:

CSM: Well done on your decision.

DavidE, et. al.,

I've said since the MOVIE THEATER SHOOTING in CO & the NEWTOWN SCHOOL MASSACRE that had my "little brother" been present, Ed would have QUICKLY ended the problem with that long-barreled .44SPL S&W that he routinely carries concealed.
(Ed was a "brown water navy" officer years ago & did his bit against armed terrorists.)

I've seen him repeatedly put ALL-6 into a "bridge-size" playing card at 35M. = He would be LETHAL to the criminal predator in such a situation AND there are MANY ex-GIs/LEOs, who shoot as well as he does.

just my OPINION, sw

For reasons I can't fathom, the NY Jewish community bonded themselves to the Democratic party and their anti-gun attitudes back in the 1930's and most will not change no matter what.

Even after WWII and the Holocaust and the "Never Again" attitude of the Israeli's the American Jewish community absorbed all the anti-gun propaganda.
Of course a few have seen the light and own guns, most will not.

Among the NY and most other big city Jews "Guns BAD" is a total article of faith and they won't be swayed even under real threat.
At most they might employ private guards or demand police protection around synagogues.
They follow the same path with "Republicans BAD, Democrats GOOD", and facts will not change it.

A lot of Israeli's have problems with the American Jewish community, and are known to ask if the American Jews would simply step onto the trains again instead of fighting.
The American community seems to put as much faith in law and order as the German Jews did in the 1930's...... Attacking them is illegal, so it can't happen, even when it does.

The fact is, Jews are under attack all over the world, including in America, and the group here that's most anti-Semitic is the Progressive Democrat party.
They BLAME a tiny handful of Right wing loons, but the one's actively going after them is the Left.
In American big cities and college campus's and in Europe where they should know better Jews are again safe targets.

Again, all this is something I and most "Fly over country" Americans can't comprehend, and we will never get on the train.
Anyone attempting to push us on is going to have to be prepared to get shot to pieces by we who would object.

I wonder if part of this is a long history in Europe of submitting and a case in America of being just a little too civilized.

This, despite what their brethren in Israel have learned when dealing with Palestinians and the surrounding Islamic countries. Muslims were entering synagogues and killing Jews until Jews started carrying guns to synagogue. The Muslims screamed and said this was evil of the Jews but stopped raiding the synagogues.

Even today, Biden is complaining that we Texans are evil because we can and do carry concealed at church. While the papers lie and say it was trained security that did that shot and killed the shooter, the papers and TV news fails to let us know that some of the folks who drew down were just church members and one was a woman. From the fist shot to the last the elapsed time was 6 seconds.

Wonder what would have happened if no one but the shooter was armed.

Before I converted to Atheism, I was security director at my church. We had no less than 4 armed people in the sanctuary during service, and one person roaming the whole church when services are on. We had some very salty shooters too. Only church I've ever been too where the pastor has a gun safe in his office (just made me feel like home).

These days, I would volunteer at a church if they were unable to provide their own security.

csmkersh,

The Marksman is a retired FBI agent & he believed that the shooter "was about to do something really bad", when he saw the shooter take a "sawed off shotgun" out from under his coat.
(Mr. Jack Wilson was interviewed this AM on WOAI radio station.)

The agent drew his handgun & as soon as the shooter fired his weapon, he engaged the shooter with a HEAD SHOT, ending the threat.

Skeptic49,

WOAI TV "News at 6". = The "talking head" on the newscast quoted the pastor's secretary.

WHOMEVER he is/was, I'm GLAD that he was there & killed the predator a single "headshot". = GOOD SHOOTING, imo.

Fwiw, my hometown congregation's volunteer security are all sworn-in as Pct. 1 Deputy Constables & (I think) are all carrying 9mm pistols.

yours, sw

Whether correct or not, I heard the volunteer guard was a retired FBI agent, reserve Deputy Sheriff, and a firearms instructor.

The anti-gun loons are now complaining that the other armed people "MIGHT" have botched it up and shot innocent church members, so they're outraged that they were armed.

Again, the anti-gun nuts don't really hate guns, they hate gun owners.

Gun owners are the kind of people who listen to the insane policies of the Left, and say, "Thanks, but that's not something I want", and have the means to make their "No" stick.

There is a group named Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. Jpfo.org
I know that years ago they were very proactive in defending both the Jewish and Black communities. I would imagine that they would be reaching out to all synagogues across the country.
And FWIW, dfariswheel, I have no idea why Jews are predominately Democratic supporters. I think it goes back to the Depression years and FDR being seen as the supporter of the poor. Impression is everything. But I think that is changing, at least among some people I know.
I have not seen any statistics about gun ownership in the Jewish community. I don't know if I'm hoping or guessing, but I think it is growing. I know I'm trying to change the trend.
I'm 2,000 miles away, but with recent events in NYC, I'm thinking about making myself a legal carrier.

FDR and the New Dealers were beloved of the American Left, and a great many Jews had Leftist views in the 1930's.
Of course they just excused FDR's turning away refugee Jews from Europe.

There's something about big cities that tends to turn people to the Left and Jews seem to be even more susceptible to it, along with the young Millennials.
Most Jews have stayed in the big cities, so they favor the Left.
Out in Fly Over Country Jews are more like their neighbors in their politics but still tend to vote Dim.

One great laugh the other day was a picture of armed Jews ready to protect worship services in NYC.
They were all armed with New York illegal AR-15's fitted with New York illegal 30 round magazines.
No one said a word, including by the usual Dim suspects that otherwise rave about evil guns and magazines.
