I'm really liking the look of the bobtail 1911.
I have been wanting a mid sized 1911 in 9mm ... alloy frame for weight ... and bobtail grip is a plus.

Its a pretty penny, so I wanted to hear some opinions on the product.

Well, this will be zero help, but that's a good looking gun. I've always wanted a gubmint model in 9mm and I've heard nothing but good stuff about CZ.

But it is indeed a bit spendy.

Probably not much help here, either. But the price of the Dan Wesson is in the ball park of a comparable Kimber model. It has an MSRP of $1,530.

A Dan Wesson Bobtail was on my shortlist back when I thought I could afford to buy guns. The DW 1911s were all very highly regarded by their owners and Bob Serva was considered by all a great guy and a great guy to deal with. I am also a big fan of CZ but I can't speak to the DW line after it was acquired by them.

I like the Dan Wesson 1911's but they are a little "hit and miss" with their grip safety fitting; about 1/3 of the new ones I've
handled had grip safeties which either stuck out too far or depressed to deep when activated.

I would recommend NOT buying one except in person so you can actually inspect it before you buy it to save all the
hassle of "returns".
