I'm looking for information about the use of a suppressor on a 1911. First, is there a standard barrel thread for suppressors, and if so, what is it? Next, what needs to be done to make the gun function with the can attached. Is it just as simple as lightweight springs?

Re: Suppressor Questions
For a 1911 it can vary. You need the threads that go with the suppressor you have or are buying. The springs in the firearm don't have to be changed most of the time I have a custom cut spring for my 10/22 so I can shoot the real low velocity ammo like PMC moderator but this is only needed with the real slow stuff .45 ammo is well above the need to do this. Some suppressors do need a recoil booster to function this also depends on your suppressor. Most forearms all you need do is screw it on and shoot. Make sure you use a thread protector when your not the suppressor..
