| Spring problem
I replaced my buffer tube last night, but I ruined the little spring. Not totally but i had to cut a few coils off to put it back in. Is it important? I would think it is if it was put in there. It was the little one between the lower receiver and the plate, I have no idea what the things are called. Just looking for some help with the name and if I can get away without one.

does it fit in a little "well" just in front of the buffer?- that's the buffer detent spring- stops the buffer from travelling out the front when you've got the rifle apart, as long as there's something in the way of the buffer, you should be ok

I don't think its the buffer spring, it's inbetween the receiver and the plate on my buffer. Its not inside the receiver itself. I think its just called a retent spring and pin.

Plate??? you must have changed out a std stock for a collapsable type. That detent spring and plunger holds the rear take down pin in place. You can get away with loosing a few coils. Make sure you did not loose the plunger inside. If you have good resistance pushing the t.d. Pin out your gtg. Last edited by PA28R200; 01-31-2012 at 01:33 PM. Reason: ADD |
