Annealing

I expect somewhere I have information on how one anneals brass. The problem is where. I do recall that one places the cartridges in a pan with water covering the base & webbing of the cases. The question is how hot do you get the neck area?

Thanks in advance.

William R Moore,

WOW!!! == A question that I can answer, for once.

The way that I do it is hold each cartridge case over the gas flame on the kitchen stove.
When it gets quite warm to the touch, I toss the cases into a pan of cool water.

WORKS FINE.

csmkersh,

FYI, I'm too CHEAP to anneal cases by another method, since I have more time than $$$$.

I haven't even SEEN a gas stove in over 30 years. I could probably replace most of my rifle brass for less than that widget csmkersh shows. A small bottle of Temprlac is much, much cheaper.

Guys, I was just poking ya'll with a pointy stick.

I didn't know Temprlaq came for various annealing temperatures.

I don't handload much anymore. Defense loads are off the shelf stuff and I shoot maybe 2 rifle rounds hunting and maybe 5 re-sighting each fall.
