I bought a case of the swiss 591-1100 surplus ammo. From what I have read I understand this is supposed to be excellent ammo. There is a ring of wax on the top of the neck of the case. Is this wax there to keep moisture out of the cartridge or is it a lubricant for chambering? Is it okay to remove the wax before shooting it? I was just concerned about a wax buildup in the chamber of the rifle.
good question! it would seem the wax would be good for both moisture control and lubrication as switzerland is a mountainous country... I've never noticed any wax build-up in my K-31
leave it alone and just shoot it. It is some of the most accurate mil surplus ammo out there. It is not "needed" for cambering....but probly does not hurt anything. I have not seen a built up . That is my suggestion.
I think I'll do just that. I am going to go out and shoot, shoot, shoot! I have heard that these rifles will flat out shoot straight. Thanks for the comments.
