 I need to buy a case trimmer and wanted to see if I can get some information from some of the experts here. What brand is the most popular around here? I am trimming .223 and 30-06 for now and maybe some other caliper later.
Thank you
Ray
I don't know any experts, but a lot depends on how many cases you have to trim. If you're not doing very many manual trimmers are fine but if you are going to do high volume you might want to look at one of the motorized models. I use the RCBS Trim Mate
This is just my view of things, if you want to have the best and most accurate trimmer get the Wilson. There is nothing better, it is not fast, but is very accurate, you will need shellholders for every caliber and sometimes two for each caliber (fired and new cases). If you need speed get one of the motorized units. I use a Wilson for high quality loads and Lee trimmers attached to a drill for high volume blaster ammo.

I went the cheap route, and got the hand held Lee trimmer. This entire unit cost me less than $20 shipped with case holder, cutter, lock nut, case length gauge, primer pocket cleaner and chamfer tool.
I can say this - it works. It is also pure murder on the hands if you do more than 15-20 a day. I will get the cutter with the ball handle for another $5, and a drill to chuck the lock nut into, and still be good to go....
if you have a drill press you can use the one forester makes. i shoot highpower and that is what i use . i can do about 200 hour. it's kind of a bitch to set up but when you get it set up it is accurate. i all so use a hornaday trimmer that i mounted vertecly and i use my 12v dewalt to power it . this is also pretty fast . i would highly recomend the rcbs trim mate . you can inside and out side chamfer, as well as deburr the flash hole very quickly. dont be afraid to modify some thing you all ready have. if you trimm a lot (like you do for hp)and use the lee trimmers keep an eye on the oal.hope this helps
I use the Lee trimmer in a hand drill for 223.. Slow but it does the job. I recently started using the same system for 308 but by hand. I size the neck only in 308 so after the first trim, second and so on need very little in the way of trimming. I don't load that much 308 as I shoot it in a bolt gun only.
