Has anybody heard anything good or bad about this ammo? It's boxed in military boxes and Lake City but.... I know people have their reservations about anything from Lake City with "For Training Purposes Only" on it.
The ammo box is marked "20 Cartrides 7.62mm M118 Long Range" and then has the training only stamp on it.
There was a guy at the range on Sunday with his M14. He put about 150 rounds of Lake City "For Trainging Use" thru it. The brass is not marked "LR" however. He gave me all his brass and not one of the cases was split. The brass appears to be the typical high quality from Lake City. I would not hesitate on buying this at all. As a matter of fact I am going to pick some up.
I've fired a few thousand LC XM80PD from ammoman through my stick and have not had one problem whatsoever. No blown primers, split necks, head seperations...low report or excessive recoil...none whatsoever. By all means though don't buy, it will last longer on the market for me I don't see the need to buy the M118 LR though...I just reload my excellent XM80 brass with 175 SMK and a powder more suitable for our gas systems
