A friend of mine on the department just got back from the FLETC sniper school. He brought back a load of ammo that some officers from another country were using at the school, but they didn't want to haul back the remains of a case they had left over. So, they gave it to him. He will ONLY shoot certain lots of Fed. GMM in his rifle that we buy in multi case lots, so he gave it all to me.

It is marked on all the boxes Metallwerk Elisenhutte GmbH and the lot number MEN98D0061. It is loaded with a HP type bullet that looks alot like a Sierra. The case is annealled like LC and is headstamped MEN .308 WIN. The primer is not crimped in. There is no mention of bullet weight anywhere on the box and I have not had a chance to weigh one yet. Does anyone have any experience with this ammo? Any reports would be great. TJR

MEN is German, I can tell you that much.7.62x51mm 147gr FMJ NATO ball made by that factory has an outstanding reputation for wounding potential, as well as accuracy and fuctioning. Since it is German ammo, there is a 99.9% chance that it is top notch ammo, even more so since it is match rounds.

You should go buy a lotto ticket, because you hit a major jackpot getting that stuff. I have never seen it for sale here in the states before!
